Library COVID-19 Response

Details on available library services, resources, and re-opening plans.

Course Reserves

Many students may not be located in Prince George during the upcoming semester given UNBC's alternate course delivery approach this fall. Providing physical reserves does not provide equitable access to students outside of Prince George, who cannot physically retrieve and use these items. Additionally, several recent studies have shown that library materials need to be quarantined between three to four days for COVID-19 to be undetectable.

Out of concern for equitable access and the health of library staff, students, and faculty, course reserves will not be offered during the Fall 2020 term. Instead, the library will be focusing on supporting faculty and students with access to electronic course material.

We will continue to offer faculty support services, including copyright syllabus service consultations to ensure compliant course content available in Blackboard, the purchase of eBook course texts where possible, and consultations with librarians regarding alternate resources (such as open-access material). Contact the library to get started.
