An overview of Air Photos, UNBC's Air Photo Collection, and information for accessing these photos for your research needs

Historical Air Photos: 1936 to 1959

For older air photos you can download the Historical Air Photo Index Map Viewer. You can either download the PDF version of these maps, or have them displayed over the map in Google Earth. From these maps you can identify roll and frame numbers of interest, and check their availability in the UNBC Air Photo Collection.

Air Photos: 1960-present

To see flight lines, photo centres, and low-resolution air photos produced by the BC Government from 1960-present you can download the Air Photo Viewer. This application has a feature to allow you to purchase photos, but most photos are available through the UNBC Library, either through our local collection or inter-library loan, Once you have the roll and frame numbers of your photos of interest you can check their availability in UNBC's Air Photo Collection.

BC Air Photos

Depending on your year of interest, there are different applications to use to find photos of interest. Both applications require Google Earth Pro to be installed on your computer. This application is available for download by following this link: https://www.google.ca/earth/ . Don't want to install Google Earth Pro on your computer? That's okay! Google Earth Pro is available in all UNBC campus PC computer labs, including the public use stations on the first floor of the UNBC Library.
