Data and Statistics: Choosing a data set - Statistics Canada

A guide to help you find data and statistics - useful to students and researchers across many disciplines

Searching by variable

Is there a specific variable you are interested in - for example, are you looking for data about smokers? You can search for variables in PUMFs through the Data Liberation Initiative Site. NOTE: You will only be able to access PUMF data. If the variable you are interested in comes from a MASTERFILE you will have to get in touch with the Research Data Centre, and follow their procedures for data access.

Searching by Subject

If you are looking for a survey on a specific subject or theme, browsing the available surveys can help you determine what will work for your research project. NOTE: You will only be able to access PUMF data. If the variable you are interested in comes from a MASTERFILE you will have to get in touch with the Research Data Centre, and follow their procedures for data access.
