Timelines for Classroom Streaming

Films from Library Databases:

  • Films that are available in the UNBC Library Databases can be used at any time.
  • We recommend that you search and test access to the film on the UNBC Library's website at least week before you plan to show the film to your class. This will confirm that the film is available and that the license has not expired.

  • Kanopy is the most common vendor the UNBC Library uses for films.
  • Purchasing a license from Kanopy typically takes 3 to 5 days.

Criterion/McIntyre Media:

  • Criterion and McIntyre Media are two vendors that the UNBC Library regularly works with.
  • Purchasing a license with either of these vendors typically ranges from 1 to 2 weeks.

DVDs:

  • DVDs are typically purchased from Amazon Canada.
  • Shipping times typically range from 3 days to several weeks.

Other:

  • Purchasing a license with a vendor that is not listed above will require additional negotiations and review.
  • The expected timeline for purchasing this type of license is 4 to 6 weeks.
