Library Renovation Service Updates

Services, study space, and technology will remain available for our UNBC community throughout the Library first-floor renovation project. This page will be updated with current information throughout the course of the construction. 

The first floor of the Library is going through some exciting changes!

This space is undergoing renovations to create more modern, updated student hub for study and collaboration. Changes include new study furniture, an event space, a bookable group study room, and as requested, an increased number of electrical outlets to plug in your devices! The renovation is projected to be completed in February 2022.

Staffed Services

Academic Success Centre (ASC)

• Tutor rooms and staff will remain on the 1^st floor for the duration of the renovation

•  In-person tutor appointment booking will remain on the 1^st floor until the Library Services desk moves to a temporary location near the entrance on the 2^nd floor on Wed., Nov. 24th.

Library Services (Circulation) 

• Remains on the 1^st floor until Wed., Nov. 24th when this service point is moved to a temporary location near the 2^nd floor entrance
• There may be short-term service disruptions during the move from the 1st to the 2nd floor on Wed., Nov. 24th

Research Help 

• Remains on the 1^st floor until Wed., Nov. 24th when both Research Help and Library Services (Circulation) will move up to the temporary location near the 2^nd floor entrance
• Online research help will continue as usual 

Research Data Centre

• Remains on the 1st floor and in-service according to posted hours on the Library's website

Study Space 

Library Study Spaces

• Study rooms and study spaces remain open on the 2nd to 4th floor
• Two additional study rooms on the third floor, rooms 14 and 15, are now available for booking 
• Visit the study room booking page to book a study room

Campus Study Space 

• Furniture from 1^st floor temporarily moved to locations throughout UNBC, spaces such as the Bear display area north of the Library, the Doug Little Lounge, the Winter Garden, and the Charles McCaffrey Hall

Technology 

Computers 

• 2^nd floor lab is open, the 1^st row is available to use by the public,
• 3^rd floor, north end, two computers at the east end of the row are public use computers
•  Other computer labs are also available on campus

Printers

• 1^st floor:
  • Quick-print station with a colour printer near the ASC area 
• 2^nd floor:
  • B&W in the computer lab (5-234)
  • B&W near the Library Service desk, estimated for Wed., Nov. 24th

Accessing Books

Course Reserves

• Remains on the 1^st floor until Wed., Nov. 24th when the Library Service desk moves up to the temporary location near the 2^nd floor entrance,
• After Wed., Nov. 24th, ask for Course Reserves material at the Library Service desk on the 2^nd floor

Holds Pickup

• Remains on the 1^st floor until Wed., Nov. 24th when the Library Service desk moves up to the temporary location near the 2^nd floor entrance
• After Wed., Nov. 24th, holds can be picked up at the Library Service Desk on the 2^nd floor

Reference Collection 

• Available on the 1^st floor near the Research Help desk until Wed., Nov. 24th, then it will be relocated to the Library Services desk temporary location on the 2^nd floor
