  • Community Information Database: Visualize data for different years and geographies. Developed by the Government of Canada's Rural Secretariat in collaboration with the provinces and territories, other government departments, and community groups.  Can export maps, data, and reports.
  • SimplyAnalytics: Based on Environics Analytics data.  Includes adjusted census/NHS data (2001-2011) and demographic projections.  Can create and export maps, data tables, and rankings.

Online Maps

  • The Atlas of Canada: Includes basic reference maps, maps from all editions of the Atlas of Canada, and selected thematic maps.  The six editions of the National Atlas of Canada were published between 1906 and 2009.  The most effective way to search the Atlas of Canada maps is from the Advanced Search in Geogratis.  Instructions:
    1. To choose Canada as a Geographic Location, enter Canada in a. Enter and Select a Geographic Name, and select Canada, null (Geographical area)
    2. Enter a keyword under 2. Subject Keywords
    3. Select one of the Atlas of Canada editions from 6. Series and Collections
    4. Click on Search
    5. Click on the title of the desired map, and scroll to the bottom of the screen to download.  (Note that you will need to actually open the map in the appropriate software to see the high quality resolution map.)
    6. Note that if you don't enter a keyword in Step 2 above, you will get a list of all the maps in the specified National Atlas of Canada edition.  This list will be quicker and easier to browse than the links on the Map Archives page.
  • Geogratis: Maps on Geogratis, including the above Atlas of Canada maps, may also be discovered through their Browse for Maps, Data and Publications page.  Try using their Subject Thesaurus.
