Subseries 2009.6.13.16 - Health and Welfare within the Political Papers series of the Iona Campagnolo fonds consists of correspondence and accompanying informational material related to the Department of Health and Welfare (Health and Welfare Canada) and health and welfare issues in general, particularly those that apply to northern British Columbia. Includes correspondence regarding medical services and programs; funding for social services; abortion laws; food additives; smoking, alcohol, and drug addictions; northern BC hospitals; and programs for persons with mental illness or disabilities. Also includes correspondence regarding welfare; old-age pensions; social security programs; services for women; the International Year of the Child; International Women's Year; the Canada Pension Plan; federal funding for daycare and women’s groups; and the federal Advisory Council on the Status of Women. Subseries consists of 72 cm of textual records.
